+1 numbers only

Mobile Intel covers the North American Numbering Plan (NANP): the US, Canada and the Caribbean countries that use +1. Any other country returns verdict: "invalid" with the reason not a valid NANP number (format).

What the data is

Answers come from numbering allocation data: which carrier each block of numbers was given to, and what type of line it is. There’s no live network check. So:
  • Carrier is the original carrier. It’s the carrier the number’s block was first allocated to. If someone moved their number to another carrier, carrier can still show the old one.
  • It doesn’t check if a phone is on. A valid number can be disconnected or unused. The API can’t tell you whether a call or text will reach someone.
You can see how much data the service holds and how current it is with GET /api/v1/stats.

Sending numbers

Let your HTTP library build the query string (params= in Python’s requests, URLSearchParams in Node), or use the batch POST. Both handle the + for you.

Matching results to your input

  • In a batch, results come back in the same order as numbers. Result i is for number i.
  • e164 is normalised (+14169670000), so it’s safe to join on.
  • international_number and local_number are display formats (+1 416-967-0000, (416) 967-0000). Don’t join on them.
