| Numbers per batch `POST` | Up to 10,000 |
| Recommended batch size | 2,000 or fewer |
| Rate limit | None set by the API today |

## Throughput

Batching is much faster than one request per number, because each single request pays the full network round trip. In our tests over the public URL, batches reached about 1,500 lookups per second, and single `GET` requests about 220 per second. Your numbers depend on where you call from.

## Why 2,000 per batch

A 10,000-number response is several megabytes. Over the public URL, very large batches can take long enough to hit an edge timeout. Batches of 2,000 or fewer stay fast and safe. See [batching](https://docs.mobileintelapi.com/concepts/batching.md).

## Timeouts

Use an HTTP timeout of about 30 seconds for single lookups and 120 seconds for batches.
