# Introduction

> Line type, carrier, region and a verdict for US and Canadian phone numbers.

Mobile Intel looks up phone numbers in the US, Canada and the rest of the +1 (NANP) region. For each number you get the line type (mobile, landline, VoIP, toll-free or premium rate), the carrier the number was allocated to, the region and timezone, and a verdict: `valid`, `risky` or `invalid`, with the reasons.

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://mobileintelapi.com/api/v1/verify?number=%2B14169670000" \
  -H "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "User-Agent: my-app/1.0"
```

```json theme={null}
{
  "phone": "+14169670000",
  "phone_valid": true,
  "phone_type": "fixed_line",
  "phone_region": "Toronto, ON",
  "carrier": "Bell Ontario",
  "e164": "+14169670000",
  "verdict": "valid",
  "reasons": ["allocated fixed_line block, clean pattern"]
}
```

The response also has the country, local and international formats, timezone and more. The field names follow the common phone-validation format, so existing parsers usually work as is. See the [full response](https://docs.mobileintelapi.com/api-reference/lookup/look-up-one-number.md).
